Unless you found this page by accident, you are most likely a little curious about me, the creator of this site. Well, my name is Scott, I'm 22 years old and I'm an avid gamer and an Earthbound expert. I have an Associates Degree in Journalism,
but until I find a better job in my career field of choice, I am working as a Security Guard. I first came across Earthbound back in 1997, at a local comic book and video game store called Comic City. I visited the store often for as long as I can remember, and even by the age of 12, I'd spent a considerable amount of my parents' income at the store. One day, ho
wever, I noticed something new in the store's SNES section. A large colorful video game box entitled Earthbound caught my attention from the highest shelf. I asked the portly clerk about the game and with a sigh, he grabbed a step-ladder, and brought it down so I could have a closer look. As I gingerly handled the game, reading the back of the box, the clerk told me he'd had the game in the back for a a couple of months, and had forgotten about it until that morning. The game looked like it came from another country, another planet, even. I knew one thing for sure: that this game was going to be unlike any other SNES, NES or SEGA game I'd yet played.
I asked the clerk how much the game cost, he clicked his tongue and said "twenty-five". I asked him if I could pay $15 now and the other $10 in a week, and he reluctantly complied. "Yeah," he said, "I'll hold it in the back 'til you bring the rest in." A week later, I brought in the other $10 I owed on the game and Earthbound was mine. In the weeks and months that followed, I played the game obsessively with my younger brother, Stephen and our two best friends, Ian and Jason. Since then, I have cherished Earthbound not only as a remarkable game, but as a token of a portion of my childhood.
There you have it. I hope I didn't disgust or bore you.-Scott Sparr
