My beloved aunt Lana Wellman passed away just after midnight on the morning of Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Creighton medical Center in Omaha, Ne. She had battled cancer for a few years now, having been diagnosed around the middle of 2005, I believe. She was 60 years old. Today is her funeral. There's more written on my myspace blog, so go there, if you're a friend of mine. That's all for today.-Otter
I've decided to change some aspects of this site. Specifically, I will no longer be updating this section with new Earthbound/Mother details as they are heard. The reason for this is quite simple: there are no updates or new details regarding the series and there have not been any for a very long time. This section of the site will now be more of a blog that operates in relation to Earthbound and Mother. Despite small glimmers of hope over the years, I've never truly believed that Nintendo of America cared about its fan base. The impish Reggie Fils-Aime has even stated in a well-known and much-cited interview that Nintendo's real concern is with appealing to the masses and targeting new gamers. He goes on to say some dribble about how Nintendo isn't concerned necessarily with die hard groups of fans--no matter how overwhelming large they are. He even mentions Mother fans in particular. Back on the premier Earthbound/Mother fan site that we all know and love, I've said for years that despite all of tiny glimmers of hope, (e.g. Earthbound being rated by the ESRB, an "Inside" source confirming Earthbound's future release on the Virtual Console, the release of other popular RPGs from the same era as Earthbound.) I always said: "It's a great though, but if it hasn't happened by now, why would Nintendo ever budge regarding the series?" I was met with a little animosity from some of the site's other frequenters. I was called "nay-sayer" and "buzz kill", I was even accused of not being a "true" fan. As if my distrust for Nintendo of America made me less of an Earthbound fan. Lately, I'd say the inverse is more accurate. To sum up my thoughts, I am now satisfied that Earthbound will not be released on the Virtual Console any time soon, let alone Mother and Mother 3 being released in the States. I hope I am wrong, but I don't feel any desire to update the site with those beliefs. So I will now be focusing solely on the nostalgia (quizzes, images, stories) of the series. Thanks. -Otter
Hey! I apologize for this even longer hiatus since my previous update. Unfortunately, this will be quick one:
